Is there such a thing as manmade warming?
This question recently came up on Facebook, so I decided to make a quick post here.
From a scientific viewpoint, manmade warming cannot be proven with the scientific method. In order to actually prove such a grand hypothesis with the scientific method, you would need a control group and a variable group. As the Earth itself can only count as one group, and since there is no control group, there is no way to link warming (the outcome) to mankind (one of thousands of variables).
Even if you believe in manmade warming, the most generous estimates put us at 10% of the total – which is not worth risking the lives of people in third world countries, by lessening our trade with them.
I’ve written about this in the past on my previous blog.
In addition, mainstream scientists believed in cooling as recently as the 1990s. Now they believe in warming. But even the most generous estimates put man made warming at 10% of the total.
So, I guess I personally do not contest whether the world is getting warm. I do believe that the world is warming up… from natural causes, just as it did in medieval times when mankind did not burn fossil fuels or possess Apple electronics. (shudder) Life without Apple products? Can you imagine it? Those were dark days – dark days indeed. 😉
