George Will makes a good point that this election isn’t just about the presidency. It’s also about a generation of Supreme Court decisions. Will we have a Supreme Court that limits government power, or looks the other way? Will the Supreme Court allow things like individual mandates, limitations on free speech, and more government control over citizens? Or will it strike such things down as unconstitutional?
There are four justices that could possibly retire in the next four years. Whichever party controls the presidency may influence Supreme Court decisions for the next 40 years.
