Obama’s Lesser Inauguration

HotAir.com posted an article today discussing how Obama’s second inauguration has/had a much smaller turnout than his first inauguration . (estimates of 500,000 or so, instead of 1.8 million)

My thought is: so? It’s not like the guy is running out of favor. Maybe he has a lower approval rating, but George W Bush had only 300,000 at his first inauguration, and up to only 400,000 at his second inauguration.

I agree with HotAir on most policy issues, but conservatives need to face the truth: big government is at an all time high in popularity. Never before in American history have so many citizens completely supported surrendering all varieties of freedom in exchange for security and taxpayer/debt subsidized benefits.

We need to stop living in denial, and realize public opinion is in favor of a more powerful government. Then, we can try to tell people how government reliance leads to corruption, poverty, and ruin.
